my 2024 business goals

My 2024 Business Goals as a Creator and Business Owner

It’s a new year, and with a new year comes new goals.

I’ve been in business for four and a half years now. There have been many ups and downs along the way, but I’m finally at a place where I know how I want to run my business, what my strengths are, what I want to prioritize, and how I want to use my business and platform to make a difference in the world.

With that said, it’s time to share my 2024 business goals so you can know what to expect from me this year. I hope they support you in your own business as well. Let’s get to it!

Goal #1: Post on my blog consistently

I’ve wanted to make a full-time income from my blog for years. But as a freelance writer and copywriter, it’s hard to make time to write for your business when you spend most of the day writing for someone else’s.

With all the traffic I get on my website from Pinterest, I can see that I probably would’ve been making a full-time income by now if I just stuck to writing blog posts consistently.

With that said, my #1 2024 business goal is to publish a new blog post every other Wednesday. I’m prioritizing my blog over other things I’ve put too much energy into. Which brings me to my next goal…

Goal #2: Prioritize what works

Anyone else tired of Instagram?

Its always been hard to grow on that app, but in 2023, my engagement dropped a lot. And I noticed this is the same for a lot of other creators.

My TikTok, on the other hand? I’ve been getting twice the engagement than I do on Instagram. And the engagement is actually genuine! It’s a breath of fresh air compared to Instagram, where most creators only comment on your posts so that you’ll comment on theirs. Can we all agree that technique is super outdated?

Don’t get me wrong, I love Instagram and will still be posting on there. But TikTok will be more of a priority this year. To be honest, I do think the more you grow on TikTok, the more you can grow on Instagram—especially if you tell your followers to follow you on Instagram or have it linked on your account.

I also really want to start a YouTube channel. I’m going to give myself grace on this one since I’m mainly prioritizing my blog and TikTok. I’d like to focus on growing my blog and TikTok this year and start a YouTube channel at the beginning of next year. But if it does happen this year, that would be awesome!

Goal #3: Create more income streams

There’s nothing worse than relying on one client for all your income. This has happened to me many times in the past, and that’s why one of my 2024 business goals is to create more streams of income.

My current streams of income are:

  • Copywriting clients
  • My blog (affiliate links)
  • Brand deals

Most of my income comes from copywriting clients, but this year, I want to put more effort into affiliate links and brand deals. As I said earlier, I’m going to be posting a lot more on my blog and TikTok to achieve this.

I’ve also decided to start pet-sitting on the side! I’m good with animals, and most of my family and friends come to me when they need a pet sitter, so why not make it another income stream? It’s perfect because I can do it while still writing for clients and my blog. I actually got this idea from other creators I follow who have successfully been pet-sitting while working with clients and creating content. So, if you’re a creator or entrepreneur who’s looking for a side gig and loves animals, maybe consider pet-sitting!

Another great income stream is to create your own digital products. I created my first digital product a couple of years ago. Full transparency here: It didn’t sell well! But I’m okay with that because it was a learning experience. I plan on creating more digital products in the future, but it’s not a priority for me this year.

If you want to sell digital products, my advice is to keep marketing them. Keep finding creative ways to get them noticed, and don’t give up. You can also get more eyes on them by selling them on Etsy or Creative Market!

Goal #4: Get better at using my business for good

Making a positive difference in the world has always been one of my goals in business and in my personal life.

I used to think I could do this by sharing my eco-friendly lifestyle with others, posting a vegan burger on my Instagram story, and meditating every day. Don’t get me wrong, these are great. But I’ve learned we truly can’t make a difference without acknowledging the roots of all issues, such as racism, capitalism, and other systems of oppression. (If you want to learn more about this, I highly recommend the book The Intersectional Environmentalist by Leah Thomas!)

I think a lot of people woke up to how fucked up the world still is when we learned about the horrors happening in Palestine, Congo, and Sudan last year. Social media has become a powerful tool for the people—spreading information that the news doesn’t cover correctly or at all.

So many creators and entrepreneurs have found ways to use their businesses and platforms to help free Palestine. I love seeing this new movement where we’re all learning how to include activism in our businesses.

If my business isn’t doing its part to make the world a better place, then I don’t want it. If I’m not using my platform to debunk information, spread the truth, and help others, then I don’t want it. I don’t want activism to be a trendbut a normal thing I apply in my business and platform.

Goal #5: Rebrand my blog (possibly)

I’ve been considering rebranding my blog, but before I make that decision, I want to hear what you think!

The main thing that would be changing is the name Written by Bella. I’m considering this because I want my blog to be less centered around me and more about my readers. If I do change the name, I would change all my handles on social media to my name and possibly create a separate social media account for my blog. My blog would be promoted on both mine and the blog’s social media accounts.

It would be a lot of work, but I think it could pay off in the long run. All of the topics I currently write about will stay the same. I’m just looking to niche down and change it to a name that describes my blog more. It would most likely have the word “business” in it.

My 2024 Business Goals

Whether they helped you get clear on your business goals or gave you an idea on what to prioritize this year, I hope sharing my 2024 business goals supported you in some way!

Now, I want to know: Would you keep reading my blog if I changed the name? Or do you love the name Written by Bella? Would it be too much of a pain or too confusing if I changed it? Or are you a fan no matter what? Your choice matters to me, so please let me know in the comments!
